It is my pleasure to recommend to you one of our most highly respected outside detailing firms, McAuliffe Structural Detailing (MCS Detailing). I had the pleasure over the past several months to work with MCS Detailing on the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Salvation Army.

This particular project presented several challenges due to the coordination between precast walls, joists, and structural steel. The building was also very architecturally and structurally challenging as it was not symmetrical and included multiple trusses and skewed beams throughout the project. MCS Detailing has done an exceptional job in communicating the required information to keep the detailing process moving forward. The RFIs received from MCS are clear and concise. MCS Detailing is a team player by helping to find solutions when presented with a challenge rather than making excuses.

The fabrication and field use drawings produced by MCS detailing are of very high quality. It is very rare that a question is brought from the shop floor on missing or conflicting information. When this does happen, MCS responds very quickly as they have an understanding of the importance of material flow through our facility.

I had the opportunity to work with Tim McAulliffe, and the rest of his team at MCS Detailing, on an Apple Inc. retail store in Lincoln Park (Chicago), Illinois. This 200 ton project was a challenging little building: it had plate girders, moment columns, canopy frames, galvanized parapet frames, a tight schedule, and required close coordination with the curtain wall, skylight, and stainless steel skin shop drawings. Throughout the project, MCS paid close attention to the details and did a great job of coordinating with the shop drawings and myself to outline the missing information while still being able to keep the detailing proceeding. MCS detailing did a good job of meeting the project schedule requirements and maintained the budget. Their use of SDSII for the modeling was a huge benefit since it is compatible with our in-house systems and the CNC file outputs worked seamlessly.
It was a pleasure to work with MCS Detailing, I hope I have the opportunity to do so again soon.
